April’s Son is my soul food brand.
When people eat my food, I want them to feel happiness and joy—the kind I felt growing up in the 90s, during holidays and Sunday dinners at our house. Those were some of the best days of my life, and those memories live in the food. I want that nostalgia to be felt.
My mother cooks with confidence. Soul food comes to her naturally—it’s a gift. I do my best to channel that same confidence when I cook.
I’m doing this now because I think about food more than anything. I put it aside for years while pursuing art, and I’ve finally given myself permission to cook.
This isn’t about trends or experimentation. We’re trying to be the bar. We’re trying to get everything right.
April’s Son exists because I believe my mom’s food is the best—and I want the world to enjoy it and tell me so.
